Day 19: memory and quick recap. It's friday!!!! 6--17-22
Introduction:
Today’s blog is focused on memory; in part one, I’ll be talking about an image I saw today from my memory, and in part 2, we will see how we did. First, before I get into that, let me explain the adventure of getting to class today. trams decided to go on strike this morning, so it was time to stretch out and walk the trains for 45 minutes in 89-degree weather. It was kind of terrible, but it taught us that sometimes things don’t go our way, and we must be flexible. At least it was only a short-term stoppage because, after class, things were back up and running again. Today’s class was an informative lecture, preparing us for what we will see on Tuesday at the Vatican. Alright, without further ado, now on today’s task memorization
Part 1, bringing the photo alive:
Near the bus stop, behind some beautiful flowers, was a statue of a man (the name I don’t know) looking down with his hands on his hips. He reminded me of the Abe Lincoln monument in DC. His hat was so big it covered his eyes; if I remember correctly, he was standing on two giant staircases, and I think it was trying to convey that he was in power. How he was posing with his hands on his hip and his head down could also mean something terrible had happened. This made me feel inspired to be honest with you. I say that because it looked like the person was confident in what was done. The rest of the walk, I kept telling myself that today would be a great day, and it was time to concur on something big or small. The texture of this statue seemed like it was built a while ago based on the detail of his body looking faded away. I found it a little weird to be in the middle of the sidewalk path, but without knowing the person's significance, it’s hard to tell if that specific spot meant something.

Part 2: How accurate was my memory?
Looking at the picture, my memory was more accurate than I thought it would. I covered that he was looking down with his hands on his hips above, and I was correct. The one thing I should have included was what looks like a cane or maybe even a sword. The challenge was that I walked by the piece so quickly that I didn’t have time to get information, observe the topic, and let it sink in. I still had 30 minutes left in my walk. But I think memory in journalism is an important skill, especially in sports; you only see something once unless you DVR it (who does that nowadays?) or if you see a Twitter clip, but as a sportswriter, you’re on deadline. The article must come off your head since things happen so fast. If you wait 3 days after the Superbowl to put out a recap, it’s no good. Now, the moment you have been
I'm waiting for the actual picture.
Rebecca Black says in her song Friday, “It's Friday, Friday, got to get down on Friday.” By that, I mean I got to rest and have some fun self-care days this weekend because it is hotter than hot. But until next time, it is time to say bye-bye to you.
