Day 8: the Awesome smells of the Bakery. 6-6-22
Today is Monday, and a perfect way to start the week is with our sense of smell. When I walk into the bakery, I get this savory aroma of fresh treats awaiting to be consumed. The scent of the baguette is powerful. I remember this past weekend when I got two baguettes from the store and returned them to my apartment. The smell was this pure freshness of yeast. It wasn’t the smell of something far away either; it was sitting on my table, and I could smell the bread in my sleep. Perhaps that’s why I slept so well this weekend. The smell of the bakery together is entirely different from America. In America, the bakery smell only lasts in your nose for two seconds, and quite honestly, the bread smell is nothing compared to what I just described. Here in Paris, you walk in, and your nose is immediately greeted with this overwhelming smell of fresh items. If you weren’t feeling awake already, just smell the dark roasted coffee here in Paris; a sweet, bitterly sweet smell that carries all throughout the shop, mixed with caramelly-smelling chocolate that surrounds everything else. This is a smell I’ve been greeted with every morning so far. Till next time, enjoy that wonderful smell of real bread and pastries.
Love it!!
